Skin care products are FOOD FOR YOUR SKIN! The skin is the body’s largest organ and an essential part of maintaining the immune system, as it is the first barrier against external contaminants, including environmental toxins, harmful bacteria and viruses, and chemicals from commercial skin care products. The skin is also involved in eliminating excess wastes, evidenced by acne and its tone & texture, including excessively oily or dry skin. WSA only uses certified organic oils, herbs and waxes to create nutritious and luxurious products for your skin.

MASSAGE OIL:Massage Oil

This blend of apricot kernel and sweet almond oils is lightweight and more easily absorbed into the skin than olive oil. The herbs used in the formula are geared toward increasing circulation. If your feet and hands tend to frequently bet either hot or cold, it’s a sign of lack of circulation. Massage this oil into extremities to increase circulation! It also makes a general massage oil!

SEED SCRUB:

seed scrub

This gentle exfoliating cleanser nourishes the skin by stimulating circulation and won’t dry out your skin the way salt scrubs can. Seeds are high in essential fatty acids and vitamins that help soften the skin, reduce inflammation, help protect the skin from harmful UVA rays, and may aid in the healing & prevention of acne.

INGREDIENTS: sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds

APPLICATION TIPS: Premix seed scrub with water in small bowl to reach ideal consistency, instead of trying to mix it in hand while in the shower! (Or keep a few days worth premixed in fridge] For very oily skin, mix with Witch Hazel [an astringent available at any drug store] instead of water. For dry skin, use Jojoba, Almond, or Apricot Kernel oil. Olive oil also works, but is heavier and greasier!!

An excellent facial routine is to cleanse with this seed scrub, followed by the Pore Cleansing Toner (wipe or pat onto face with on a cotton pad) and then apply a light moisturizer.

DECONGESTANT OIL:
decongestant oil

This herbal infused oil relieves nasal congestion due to allergies, common cold, or sinusitis. It also aids in loosening chest congestion and sinus headaches.

RECOMMENDED USE: rub onto chest or bottom of feet, or use a few drops with a facial steam (will also serve to soothe and soften the skin!). To use as a steam: boil 2-3 cups of water, remove from heat, add 5-8 drops of Decongestant Oil; place towel over head, shoulders and pot; close eyes and hold face 10-12 inches above. Adjust amount of oil and distance to pot of hot water depending on sensitivity to both. Breathe deeply for 5 minutes.

MOUTH RINSE:

mouth rinse

This refreshing herbal mouth rinse works to disinfect & soothe gums while reducing bacteria in the mouth and leaving the breath fresher! Artificial sweeteners, foaming & whitening agents common in commercial mouth washes can wear down tooth enamel and erode gum tissue over time. The wholesome characteristics of the herbs in this formula support a healthy mouth, which in turn helps keep the digestive system at its peak.

Ingredients: sage, Echinacea, myrrh, thyme & calendula infused in grain alcohol and distilled water, essential oils of tea tree and peppermint

BUG SPRAY:

tick spray

With the apparent rise in disease-ridden ticks it is increasingly important to protect ourselves from these creatures. This recipe combines known repellents from across the globe – Neem oil, from the Neem tree, is native to India and has many medicinal uses including insect repellent, insecticide and skin softener. (yes! maybe we can soften our skin at the same time) Wormwood, a plant native to Europe that has naturalized in the US, is also known to repel all types of insects.

THE LEGEND OF THE BUBONIC PLAGUE THIEVES: the essential oil blend used in this recipe was born out of a legend of a band of thieves that robbed victims of the plague without getting ill. The thieves were spice traders who came up with a concoction they rubbed on their bodies to protect themselves from the fleas that transmitted the disease. This blend is often used for repelling ticks and mosquitos as well!

INGREDIENTS: wormwood* extract, witch hazel, neem oil*, essential oil of clove*, lemon*, cinnamon*, eucalyptus*, and rosemary*. (*certified organic)

SUGGESTED USE: spray generously on skin and clothes, avoiding the eyes! Reapply as needed. May also be used on pets! Safe for children (all ingredients are non-toxic)

HELPFUL HINTS: if you can no longer smell it, it’s time to reapply! Ticks do not fly, but they do crawl quickly – be sure to spray your shoes to detour them from climbing up! This formula can be used on pets too. Keep it away from the eyes and please shake it well before using as the oils separate!
